@Sonrise Community Church

Fifteen years ago God brought two families together, and then took us down two separate paths, which we believe was to prepare us for this work. Carl Kadolph and Cory Potter served as deacons together at a church in Deltona in 1999.  Both would become ordained pastors in the Central Florida area.  Pastor Carl started a church called SonRise Community Church, whose legacy lives on through the work of Connect.  Carl and his wife, Tina, also founded Love Missions (to share the Gospel internationally) and The Priceless Project (to rescue women and children from sex trafficking).

Pastor Cory served as Family Life Pastor in the Central Florida area, but Cory knew that God had called him to plant new churches.  With a heart for church planting, Cory set out to begin a new work in North Port, Florida, when God showed him the need to assist a new church plant on the beach side of Daytona where he then served as Associate Pastor to help the church organize and mobilize.  Cory and his wife, Sue, have a passion for healthy relationships, especially in marriage. They had founded Connect in Him Marriage Ministries.

Early in 2015, God separately put a desire on both the Kadolph's and Potter's hearts to look at church differently and determine what it should look like in terms for connecting people to God and each other in ways that make a greater impact in the world. We each saw a necessity for discipleship, creating opportunities for real relationships to develop, for getting out and getting connected into the community, all with the purpose of exalting God and making Jesus famous! God was placing these same desires in each of us, without the other couple being aware. After praying for people to come along side them, God led the Potter's to contact the Kadolph's.  The two couples decided to get together and tell each other the story of where God was leading each. They met in the Kadolph's living room, sharing our stories with one another, and they were in awe of how cool it was that God put the same desire in each of them. A desire that looks different but one that they believe embodies what God has asked of them biblically to be as a church. This was the beginning of His work....CONNECT!
